Hamilton CapTel Case Study: Eaton Senior Living Communities
Eaton Senior Communities, a non-profit that provides affordable housing for seniors in Lakewood, Colorado, cares for several residents with significant hearing loss. As a result of their hearing loss, these residents were reluctant to use the telephone. Hamilton® CapTel® introduced Captioned Telephone, which allowed them to listen and read what’s said during phone conversations – keeping them connected with family, friends and professionals. All this at no cost and with no effort on the part of Eaton staff.
Given the varying abilities of the residents, the installation process required a flexible and empathetic approach. Connectivity challenges, such as differing internet configurations and complex electrical setups, were addressed by Hamilton CapTel’s installation team, who came prepared with everything needed to ensure every phone worked seamlessly.
The collaboration was highly successful – delivering a no-cost, hands-off solution that required no effort from staff, and residents were thrilled with their new phones and their ability to reconnect with what’s most important. Key factors in the program’s success included:
- Thorough planning and preparation
- A bespoke approach to engaging residents
- Making the process hassle-free for Eaton’s staff
