AI, Big Data and Hearing Assistive Technology
Artificial Intelligence, in its various forms, has begun to play a central role in nearly every business category – and hearing healthcare is no exception. AI is the ability of a computer system (both very large and very small, as inside a hearing aid) to deal with ambiguity by making predictions using previously gathered data – also known as Big Data. With its built-in subset category of ‘machine learning’, AI software can learn from errors in those predictions to generate newer, more accurate predictions that inform its future behavior. One example of this includes hearing aids with built-in machine learning which adjust to patterns of behavior to optimize the best settings for the hearing aid user in the present moment.
This white paper, sponsored by Hamilton® CapTel®, explores how AI and Big Data work in concert to enhance the quality of life for people with hearing loss, thanks to advancements in hearing assistive technology, diagnostic tools, and even practice management.
