Frequently Asked Questions and Answers About The Hamilton® CapTel® Hearing Healthcare Program

  1. I have a patient who is currently eligible for a Hamilton CapTel phone. Can I get them one at no cost?
Yes! As a Hearing Healthcare Professional, you can easily certify that your patient is an individual with hearing loss. This simple certification process confirms your patient needs Captioned Telephone Service to communicate in a manner that is functionally equivalent to telephone service experienced by individuals without hearing difficulties. As part of the certification process, you and your patient can place the order for a Hamilton CapTel phone at no cost1. We’ve even made it easier to certify your patient’s hearing loss and request a phone through our Noah® 4 Module2.
  2. What if my patient doesn’t want to fill out the form? Can they obtain a Hamilton CapTel phone a different way?
The Hamilton CapTel phone is also available direct to individuals for a cost of $75 and can be purchased online or by calling 888-225-9211.
  3. How long will the phone be available at no cost? Will this change?
Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS) is regulated and funded by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC may change IP CTS regulations at any time with little notice. As a result, Hamilton CapTel program rules, guidelines and pricing may change. For the most up-to-date FCC regulations and Certification/Order Form please visit the Certificate of Hearing Loss/Order Form section of our website.
  4. What steps do my patients need to take to get a Hamilton CapTel phone?
You and your patient simply complete the appropriate sections of the Certificate of Hearing Loss/Order Form through your Noah® 4 Office Management Software, online or via printed order forms.
  5. Are materials relevant to the Hamilton CapTel phone and other options such as Hamilton CapTel for PC/Mac, Smartphones and Tablets available at no cost?
Yes! All educational and informational materials are available at no cost. You may order a demo phone and display stand at no cost as well.
  6. I’m not really sure about some of these Program details. Where can I go to get some additional answers?
If you’re uncertain how to proceed, please request information about the Hearing Healthcare Program. The Hamilton CapTel Team is here to answer any questions you may have at 800-826-7111.
